Ag-doped TiO2 nanofibers were synthesized by a combination of sol-gel and electrospinning
process. Calcination of the electrospun mats at 500 oC led to produce well morphology Ag-doped
TiO2 nanofibers. The heat treated nanofibers were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD),
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy (EDX), etc. The
Ag doped TiO2 nanofibers were found to inhibit violacein production, a quorum sensing regulated
behaviour in Chromobacterium violaceum CV026. Although Ag doped TiO2 nanofibers were
reported for their antimicrobial activity, this study adds further note on its anti-QS activity.
Key Words: TiO2 nanofibers, electrospinning, Ag doping, anti-quorum sensing activity.
